Cheerios and Walmart have teamed up for “Moments of Good” and are traveling the United States paying it forward to communities. Samaritan Community Center was thrilled when the SnackPacks for Kids program was selected as one of the lucky recipients.

SFK provides eight healthy snacks to local children who are at-risk for weekend hunger. SCC works closely with school counselors to make sure the children with highest needs get food for the weekend. SnackPacks is currently serving 160 NWA schools, feeding 6,000 children a week.

To give back to SnackPacks for Kids, Cheerios and Walmart hosted a HUGE packing event at the Walmart in Siloam Springs this past February. This event allowed shoppers an opportunity to help pack snackpacks that would be given back to participating Siloam Springs public schools. The goal was to pack 2,500 in three hours! The volunteers were abundant and surpassed the goal at 2,800 snackpacks. This total will provide Siloam Springs schools with a six month supply of snackpacks for children in need.

“I was delighted by the experience of working with General Mills and the Cheerios Brand team,” said Joe Raleigh, SnackPacks for Kids Coordinator. “They approached the project with great passion for feeding children and engaging our local community. This “Moments of Good” event was a joyful and uplifting celebration of helping others.”
