A Divine Journey: The Story of Samaritan’s New Springdale Community Center

For years, the Samaritan Center in Springdale, AR, has operated from a cramped, deteriorating strip mall. You would think that an expensive lease would cover basic upkeep, but instead, we’ve been battling mold issues, plumbing failures, and a general atmosphere that falls short of the dignity and respect we strive to show our clients. It’s been a struggle, but through it all, our mission to serve those in need has never wavered. Then something incredible happened. One day, an anonymous family stepped forward with an offer that felt like an answer to prayer. They wanted to help us buy a new building—a permanent space that could better serve our community without the constant challenges of our old location. We began searching for real estate, hoping to find the perfect fit, and that’s when we came across the former Wesley United Methodist Church. This building was in an ideal location and had the potential to become a beautiful new home for Samaritan’s mission. Excited by the find, we presented the property to the generous family, and something miraculous unfolded. Their jaws dropped as soon as they saw it. “This is where our family grew up,” they said. They had been baptized there, their children's weddings had taken place in its chapel, and they had deep emotional ties to that church and the land it stood on. In that moment, we all knew this was more than just a real estate deal—this was a God thing. With hearts full of joy, the family offered to buy the church outright for us to use as our new community center. Their generosity gave us the foundation we needed, but we soon realized that to truly fulfill our mission, the building would need significant renovations. We serve hundreds of clients every week, and to do that effectively, we need to expand the space, especially the kitchen and dining area. The remodel will cost over $4 million, a daunting figure. But we trust that we are following God’s calling to create a permanent place where Samaritan can show His love and mercy to the hurting and hungry in our community. We are stepping out in faith, believing that God will provide the resources to make this vision a reality. The new Springdale Community Center will be so much more than just a building—it will be a beacon of hope. A place where struggling families can find nourishment, care, and compassion. A place where we can serve with dignity, free from the limitations of our current facility. And a place where the story of one family’s love for their church becomes part of Samaritan’s mission to love and serve our neighbors. We invite you to join us on this journey, whether through prayer, volunteering, or financial support, as we work to complete this remodel and open a new chapter in our ministry. Together, we will create a space where lives are changed, and where God’s love flows freely to all who enter.

Campaign Goal

We are embarking on an ambitious journey to raise $4 million to transform the Samaritan Community Center in Springdale, AR, into a space that can truly meet the growing needs of our community. With this funding, we will renovate and expand our newly acquired building—a former Methodist church rich in history—to create a permanent home where we can serve with dignity and compassion. This remodel will allow us to expand our kitchen and dining area to serve more meals, provide counseling services, and create a warm, welcoming environment for families seeking hope and help.
