Samaritan Cafe

Open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:30 am to 1:00 PM

When people think of a soup kitchen, they typically think of waiting in a long line for a bowl of soup and a piece of bread. At Samaritan Café, we are anything but that. Our goal is to treat everyone as a guest, just as you would if they were dining in your home.

Samaritan Café is open to the general public in both our Rogers and Springdale centers and serves FREE hot meals. We serve a restaurant-style setting meal – meaning our clients are seated at tables and served meals by caring (and smiling!) volunteers.

In response to the growing crisis and connection between poverty and obesity, Samaritan Café has developed a Healthy Foods Initiative that focuses on improving the overall nutritional quality of the meals we serve. Fresh organic produce is harvested daily from Samaritan Garden (during growing season) to provide fresh salads and vegetables, and dessert is often fruit.

How to Help

Specific needs for our Samaritan Cafés vary but, in general, we are always in need of these items:

#10 cans of the following vegetables – green beans, corn and diced carrots. #10 cans of vegetables can be purchased at Sam’s, or at various large food markets.

All food donations may be dropped off at the SCC Administrative Offices

2910 S. 8th Street
Rogers, AR 72758
M-TH 9:00 am – 4:00 pm & FR 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

We are always in need of volunteers for both of our Cafés in Springdale and Rogers. The most critical need is for volunteer servers who are willing to work from 10:00 am-1:30 pm.

Samaritan Cafés are inspected and certified by the Arkansas Department of Health, and because of this, volunteers who work inside the kitchen must be at least 18 years of age.

To volunteer in Samaritan Café, please email volunteer@samcc.org.

“We see our Healthy Foods Initiative as being a food justice issue. We believe that we are not only called to feed the hungry but to provide them with healthiest food possible within our financial parameters. By making quality choices, we not only model for our clients, we also show them that they are persons of worth and deserve those choices.”
