Building Community Through Service: Canopy NWA Volunteers Join Samaritan to Fight Hunger

At Samaritan Community Center, we believe that breaking cycles of hardship starts with community and connection. That’s why we were thrilled to recently welcome a large volunteer group from Canopy NWA, a local nonprofit dedicated to creating a community where refugees are welcomed and equipped with everything they need to build new lives.

A Shared Mission: Supporting Families in Need

Canopy NWA works to ensure that refugee families feel at home in Northwest Arkansas by providing vital resources, advocacy, and support. Their commitment to empowering families and fostering belonging aligns perfectly with our mission to serve neighbors facing food insecurity and other challenges. When they reached out about a volunteer opportunity, we knew it would be a meaningful partnership.

Packing Hope: SnackPacks for Kids

One of the biggest ways we tackle food insecurity in Northwest Arkansas is through our SnackPacks for Kids program. Each week, we distribute over 6,000 snackpacks to children across four counties, ensuring they have nutritious food over the weekend when school meals aren’t available.

With the help of Canopy NWA’s volunteers, we packed thousands of these essential snackpacks, filling them a variety of food items. Their hard work and dedication made an immediate impact, helping us continue our mission to provide hunger relief for children in need.

The Power of Collaboration

Volunteer efforts like this highlight the incredible power of local nonprofits working together. Canopy NWA’s support not only helped us meet the immediate needs of children in our community but also reinforced the idea that everyone has a role to play in creating a stronger, more supportive Northwest Arkansas.

We are incredibly grateful for our partnership with Canopy NWA and look forward to more opportunities to serve together. If you or your organization are looking for volunteer opportunities in Northwest Arkansas, consider joining us! Together, we can break cycles of hardship and bring hope to families in need.
