NOTE: When donating to the campaign online, please be sure and write Warehouse Campaign Donation in the "Description" box at the top of the online donation form.
Our Goal
Storing bulk purchases and large-scale donations is currently a serious logistical problem for us and we have reached the point that we need to construct a 10,000-12,000 sq. ft. temperature-controlled warehouse on our four acres of property in Rogers, just north of our current building. The warehouse would allow us to operate more efficiently and economically and - most importantly - will help us keep food costs down and to expand all of our local feeding programs.
We Need Your Help!
Our initial cost estimate for building a 10,000 sf building is $250,000 with an additional $25,000 needed to purchase walk-in cooler space and pallet racking. We have currently raised $109,000 in designated gifts towards the cost of this project (41%). We are especially looking for a donation of steel to frame the warehouse. Acquiring the steel would greatly reduce the amount we need to raise and allow us to get started, almost immediately, building the space. Interested in making an in-kind donation of building materials? Contact Debbie Rambo, SCC Executive Director. There are several ways to help:
Monetary Donation: Mail your tax-deductible donation to Samaritan Community Center, PO Box 939, Rogers, AR 72757. Or click on the donate button above the warehouse thermometer to donate using your MC/VISA debit or credit card. In-Kind Donation: We need help with various parts of this building construction, including the steel, concrete, electrical, plumbing and HVAC services. If you own one of these types of businesses, your donation of services/products is tax-deductible as well. Stock Donation: Your tax-deductible donation of stock can be made to our investment account at Arvest Asset Management. For many people this can have great tax advantage, as they can take a tax deduction at current market value vs what was initially paid for the stock.

SnackPacks Receives Grant from Tyson Foods
(ROGERS, Ark. - July 15, 2014) - The Samaritan Community Center’s SnackPacks for Kids program, the largest children’s nonprofit feeding program in Northwest Arkansas, is the recipient of a $45,000 grant from Tyson Foods in Springdale. This is the second year Tyson foods has helped to sponsor the SnackPacks for Kids program.
“No child should ever go hungry,” says Annetta Young, director of corporate social responsibility for Tyson Foods. “The Samaritan Community Center’s snackpack program helps to ensure that doesn’t happen for area school children at-risk for hunger on the weekends, and we’re very proud to support those efforts.”
SCC started the SnackPacks for Kids program nine years ago. The program focuses on hunger relief for Northwest Arkansas elementary-aged school children who have been identified by school personnel as being most at-risk for hunger and food insecurity on the weekends and during the summer months when school meal programs are not available.
Tyson employees frequently serve as volunteers at both the Springdale and Rogers centers. Pictured above is a team from the transportation/warehouse division packing snackpacks recently.
